There are two different questions to ask before a family outing: does the activity cost extra, and does entering the building or garden cost anything? “Free drop-in program” does not always answer both. These notes separate the program from the front door.
Lauritzen: the activity is included, the garden is not automatically free
The garden’s own program pages say Curious By Nature and Dew Drops are included with paid garden admission and free for garden members. Curiosity Carts carries the same admission condition. No registration is required for these drop-in activities.
- Curious By Nature: Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. CST. The current calendar includes November 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28 and 29 after today.
- Dew Drops: Wednesdays, 10 to 11 a.m. CST. The current November dates are 11, 18 and 25.
- Curiosity Carts: Fridays, 2 to 3 p.m. CST. The current November dates are 13, 20 and 27.
Read the garden calendar and read the garden admission page. The drop-in pages explain that inclement-weather activities move indoors to the Sofia’s Play Garden classroom.
Omaha Children’s Museum: a standard-admission baseline
The museum’s own visit page lists adults and children at $17 each, seniors at $16, and free admission for members and children under 24 months. Hours are Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST. It is closed on major holidays. The address is 500 South 20th Street, Omaha.
This is a planning baseline, not a discounted-admission listing. Read the source listing.
For an actually free art stop, start with The Joslyn
The Joslyn states free general admission, with regular hours Tuesday-Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Thursday until 8 p.m. CST. It is closed Monday. Use the existing Good Buy listing for the admission scope and special notices, and the museum’s own page before setting out. Do not assume food, shopping or every special exhibition is included.
For older family members interested in experimental music, Bemis lists free admission at LOW END and upcoming Magic Tuber Stringband on November 12 and Chief Adjuah on December 10, both 8 to 9:30 p.m. CST. Follow its ticket link and check entry rules rather than treating that as a drop-in children’s program. Read the source listing. Bemis galleries are temporarily closed.
Check the live free calendar, not a permanent promise
NowOmaha’s Free calendar changes with the date window. Read each organizer’s conditions, including age, reservations and any admission requirement. The calendar is a starting point, not a promise that every outing has no additional cost.
